Willie Sims, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Willie Sims Jr., age 56, will be conducted on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Fairview Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Sims entered into Eternal Rest on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center.  He was born December 2,1959 in Newberry SC to the late Marjorie Mathis Sims and the late Willie Sims, Sr.  He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Newberry High School of Class of 1979. He was employed by The Newberry Housing Authority where he started out through the JTPA program. After working with the Housing Authority he decided to join the United States Army where he was stationed in Killeen TX.  After serving 4 yrs. in the Army he returned to the Housing Authority as supervisor over the maintenance department for 33 yrs.

Mr. Sims was predeceased by his parents as well as his brothers Jackie D. Sims, Randy O. Sims and Gary S. Johnson and his brother-in-law Clarence H. Johnson.

Cherishing his memory are his loving wife of 25 yrs. Doris Johnson Sims and his children; daughter, Latoria Johnson ( Joe), sons, Mashad Perry (LaTonya), Willie Sims, III, Arsenio T. Sims, Shykeim Johnson; three grandchildren, Zaivean Sims, Kingston Ruffin and Javien Wise; sisters, Adrian M. Sims ( Joseph) and Marjorie S. Suber (James) all of Newberry; two aunts, Rose Counts of Brooklyn, NY and Fannie Mae Yarborough of Philadelphia, PA; one uncle, John Counts of Brooklyn, New York; mother-in-law, Shirley Ann Johnson; sisters-in-law, Diane Johnson ( Jerry), Peggy Johnson and Shelby Johnson ( Lewis), Trollie Kinard (Troy), Amy Kinard (Clarence), Kimma Kinard; a host of devoted nieces and nephews cousins and friends; special nephew, Kenya K.Sims; special friends, Chris Wheeler, James Cooper, Curtis Wheeler, Anthony Gray, Danny Shells and Victor.
