Funeral services for Mr. Willie Earl Cureton, “Slope”, will be conducted on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Elisha AME Church cemetery.
Mr. Cureton passed away on December 1, 2019 in Arlington, Virginia. He was born on November 27, 1963, in Newberry, South Carolina to the late John H. Cureton, Sr., and the late Barbara Jean Jefferson Cureton.
“Slope” attended Newberry County Public Schools where he graduated from Gallman High School. He worked for Trucast in Newberry, SC, and later moved to Washington, DC, where he became a culinary chef. He worked as a foreman for the National Construction Company. His favorite football team was the Dallas Cowboys. He was a handy man, a “Jack of all Trades” and the life of the party always filling the room with laughter and joy.
Those who remain to cherish precious and loving memories include one son, Raheim Cheeks of Clinton, SC; one sister, Barbara Ann Cureton of Ashland, VA; two brothers, John Henry Cureton, Jr., and Anthony Randolph Cureton both of Newberry, SC; six aunts, Gloria Franks (Isreal), Gwendolyn Grier and Mary Springs all of Charlotte, NC, Laura and Helen Lake of Washington, DC, and Mildred Cureton of Philadelphia, PA; five uncles, Jerry Cureton of Philadelphia, PA, Earnest Springs (Mary) and Charles Springs both of Charlotte, NC, and Timothy Lake and Reginald Brown both of Washington, DC; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
