Sarah Mae (Rutherford) Young

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah M. Rutherford Young, age 90, will be conducted on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Young passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 at her home. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Miles Rutherford and the late Mary Frances Sligh Rutherford..  Mrs. Young joined Calvary Baptist Church at an early age where she was a member of the Willing Workers.  She was also a member of Women's Home Aid Society #50.  Mrs. Young attended the public schools of Newberry County.

Mrs. Young was very dedicated to her community in a loving and devoted manner.

Mrs. Young was predeceased by her husband, Robert Lee Young; son, James Earl Rutherford; grandson, Anthony Fant; brothers, Ernest, Willie and Butler Rutherford.

Surviving are her daughters, Dorothy Young Scurry (Sammie) of Long Island, NY; Mary Young, Sarah Frances Young and Catherine Y. Chaplin (James); son, Wallace Young (Shirley) all of Newberry, SC; one brother, James Rutherford of Brooklyn, NY; ten grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, ten great-great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
