Sarah (Alexander) Werts

Funeral services for Mrs. Sarah A. Werts will be conducted on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Welch Zion Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Werts passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at her home.   Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Daniel "Duke" Alexander and the late Geneva Hare Alexander.

Mrs. Werts was a faithful member of Welch Zion Baptist Church where she was a member of the Senior Choir and the Welcome Committee.  She retired from Louis Rich after 28 years of service.  She was co-owner of Highly Flavored Catering where she expressed her love for cooking.  She loved her family, friends, her flowers and most of all she loved God.

Mrs. Werts was predeceased by her son, John Thomas Werts; sister, Judith Martin; brother, Terry Alexander; niece, Gena Martin and brother-in-law, Horace Werts.

Surviving are her husband, Forest Werts, Jr.; sons, Forest (Tammy) Werts, III, Edward Bernard (Octovia) Werts, Anthony (Latwisse) Martin all of Newberry, SC; Anthony Tyrone Werts of Charlotte, NC; daughters, Shonda (Cecil) Caldwell of Charlotte, NC, Tiffiney Monique Baxter, Lisa Martin, Amber (Maurice) Wyatt all of Newberry, SC; sisters, Shirley Alexander and Brenda Alexander; brothers, Daniel (Jannell) Alexander, Robert Alexander and Randy Alexander all of Newberry, SC; eight grandchildren, Demetrius Werts, Ja'Ceree Caldwell, Cecil "CJ: Caldwell, Yafari Werts, Jamaree Caldwell, Laquesha Morris, Shotora Morris and ShaKelia Morris; six great-grandchildren, six aunts, two uncles, nine sisters-in-law, four brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews and devoted extended family and friends: Torchia Werts,  Jannet Glenn, Mildred Crooks, Rebecca Baxter, Melissa Baxter, Dorthy Williams, Alfred Price, Joseph ( Joe) Rhodes, Shirley Livingston and Dedra Scott. ( FAB 5)  Anthony Crumpton, Alma Sullivan, Lena Mitchell, Jewel Pitts ( Baby- Doll) and Kathy Wilson.
