Mildred Dorothy Davis

Funeral services for LTC (Ret.) Mildred D. Davis will be conducted on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 4:00 PM at St. James AME Church, 8321 US Highway 176, Pomaria, SC by the pastor, Reverend David Owens, Jr.  Burial will follow at Newberry Memorial Gardens with full military honors.

Ms. Davis, daughter of the late George and Hattie Douglas Davis was born in the St. Phillips Community of Newberry County, South Carolina.  She entered into Eternal rest on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at the Hospice of the Piedmont House in High Point, North Carolina.

Ms. Davis served faithfully as an active member, church historian and secretary of St. James A. M. E. Church in Pomaria, South Carolina.  Upon graduation from the Columbia Hospital School of Nursing, she entered active duty service in the Army Nurse Corps where she served until she retired in 1973.  Upon retiring from the Army, she returned home to Newberry County where she was an active member in the community through her volunteer service with the American Red Cross and other various organizations.

Ms. Davis is survived by her great-niece Bernadette J. Polux-Avery (James) of High Point, North Carolina; cousins, Ada W. Preston of Tyron, North Carolina; Lyndell Jackson of Pomaria, South Carolina and a host of cousins and dear friends.
