Lottie Mae (Bates) Wallace1939 ~ 2019 (age 80)
Funeral services for Mrs. Lottie Mae Bates-Wallace, age 80, will be conducted on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Lower Mt. Olive AME Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Wallace passed away on Friday, October 25, 2019 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Colie Bates, Sr. and the late Jessie Lee Mayers Bates. She was adopted and reared in the home of the late Eva Mae Mayers Pitts and the late Cecil Pitts.
Mrs. Wallace was a faithful member of Lower Mt. Olive AME Church. She was also a member of Women's Home Aide #108. Mrs. Wallace retired from Renfro of Whitmire, SC.
Mrs. Wallace was predeceased by her husband, James Wallace, Jr.; sister, Jessie Pearl Bates; brothers, W. L. Bates, Colie Bates, Jr. and Cleophus Bates; adopted siblings, Evelyne Pitts-Kinard, Everett Pitts and Raphord Pitts.
Surviving are three sons, Stanley Bates (Brenda) of Newberry, SC; Milton Wallace (Gloria) of Jenkinsville, SC; Kelvin Wallace (Bridgetta) of Chapin, SC; step-daughters, Martha Young (Ronnie) of Prosperity, SC; Angie Praylow (Calvin) of Georgia; one sister, Dorothy Ann Barnes (Larry) of Little Mountain, SC; one brother, James Earl Bates (Dorothy K.) of Newberry, SC; adopted siblings, Paul Pitts (Olivia) and Rebecca Pitts (Curtis) all of Prosperity, SC; Theresa Pitts-Rikard (Joseph) and Margaret Pitts all of Little Mountain, SC; Lamont C. Pitts of Columbia, SC; ten grandchildren including Stella Williams who was reared in the home; seven great-grandchildren, devoted nephew and caregiver, Jerry Lee Bates; devoted nieces, Linda Faye Bates and Deborah Ann Bates; sisters-in-law, Jessie Lee Counts (Charles) of North Carolina; Queen Ester Hair-Bates of Prosperity, SC; Darnell Gallman-Pitts of Little Mountain, SC; caregiver, Stephanie Curry; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will sadly miss her.
