Funeral services for Mrs. Katherine Jackson Wells will be conducted on Sunday, September 17, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Hannah AME Church cemetery.

Mrs. Katherine Jackson Wells known to everyone as "Kat Wells", transitioned from life here on earth to Everlasting Life after 82 years well spent and well enjoyed on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Hospice care of Laurens.

Mrs. Well was born January 25, 1935 to the late Helen Sims Jackson and Benjamin F. Jackson.  She was raised by aunt and uncle Rosevelt and Mary Sims. Later in life she married the love of her life Willie J. Wells.

Mrs. Wells joined Lever Chapel AME Church at an early age and later attended Believe Assembly. She worked faithfully until her health start failing.  She was a school bus driver and lunch room employee at Bush River S hool. She also was one of the first black school crossing guards at Drayton Street Elementary in the 60's. 

Mrs. Wells was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother, Minnie P. Jackson; brothers, George Greenwood and Thomas Sims.

Mrs. Wells was a person who impacted many lives. She loved everyone she came in contact with.  "May the life she lived speak for her." 

She leaves to cherish the sweet memories of her great life 6 children. Five daughters, Belinda(JD) Henderson, Newberry, SC; Brenda Stephens, Laurens, SC; Florence (Tommy) Anderson, Greenwood, SC;  Kathy Kibler, Columbia, SC; Helen (John) Robinson, Newberry, SC; one son, Ben(Angie) Wells, Laurens, SC; 17 grandchildren Teresa Langford, Greg Wells, Robert Wells, Angie Kibler, Kelvin Kibler, Kevis Adams, Deborah Adams, Chris Robinson, Victor Robinson, Tasha Robinson, Jamal Wintuny, Stephno Anderson, Jasmine Montgomery, Joy Morton, Destyne Wells, Terkysha Henderson and Kiki Neal. 36 great-grandchildren, 10 great- great- grandchildren, one sister, Ida Williams,  Newberry, SC; one sister- in- law, Mae B Burno.  Mrs. Wells raised four children as her own, Earline Mendenhall, Lillie Watts, Evelyn Brooks and Thomas Sims.  She also leave a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and  devoted nephew, George Greenwood, Jr.
