John Willie Gilmore

Funeral services for Mr. John Willie Gilmore, age 74, will be conducted on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery.

Mr. Gilmore passed away on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at his home.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of Willie Gilmore and the late Florence Nance Gilmore.  He attended various local churches and Newberry County Senior Center.  Mr. Gilmore retired from Palmetto Pallet.

Mr. Gilmore was an avid walker and enjoyed collecting small treasures. He never met a stranger and shared a smile and kind words to all he greeted.

Mr. Gilmore was predeceased by his wife, Mrs. Betty Newson Gilmore and a brother, Spencer Gilmore.

Surviving are his father, Mr. Willie Gilmore; two brothers, Wilbert Gilmore, Sr. of Columbia, SC; Nathaniel Gilmore (KaTanya) of Lexington, SC; six sisters, Barbara Melvin, Ella Mae Gilmore, Irene Gilmore Scott, Emma Lee Griffin all of Newberry, SC; Sarah Gilmore Lindsay of Greenville, SC; Lucille Mitchell of Woonsocket, RI; devoted niece, Crystal L. Gilmore of Newberry, SC; dear friend, Thelma Goodson of Newberry, SC; two sisters-in-law, Georgette Gilmore of Greenwood, SC; Bonnie Gilmore of Newberry, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends who will miss him dearly.
