J. W. Mathis

Funeral services for Mr. J. W. Mathis will be conducted on Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 2:00 PM at Fellowship Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Mathis passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.  Born in Newberry, South Carolina he was the son of the late Willie Mathis and the late Earlene Jones. Mr. Mathis was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church and an employee with the City of Newberry Public Works.

Mr. Mathis was predeceased by sons, Jeffery Baxter, Randy Mathis-Harmon and Calvin Mathis; daughters, Sharon Mathis-Harmon Cureton, Geraldine Myers and Paula Mathis; brothers, Jimmy Mathis and Freddie Lee Mathis.

Surviving are daughters, Darlene Harmon of Columbia, SC; Roberta Spearman (Jerry) of Newberry, SC; sons, Brad Myers of Indianapolis, IN and Jerrold Myers of Newberry, SC; sister, Carrie Camack of Blair, SC; brothers, Johnny Mathis and T. J. Mathis (Evelyn) all of Newberry, SC; Thomas Mathis of Pomaria, SC; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, two sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
