Bedford R. Hinds

Funeral services for Mr. Bedford R. Hinds will be Sunday, July 8, 2018 3:00 P.M. at Seekwell Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with Military Honors. He was the beloved son of the late Arthur and Sophia Hinds. He was born June 3, 1920, and entered the gates of Heaven July 4, 2018.

He attended Brooklyn College. He proudly served his country during WWII while stationed in the Philippines. He married the love of his life, his wife of sixty-nine years, the late Angerone C. Hinds. While building their life together, he worked as a chemical operator for Michelin for over twenty years. After retiring, he continued to work as a security guard for Security Forces for another twenty years.

Mr. Hinds was a staple in the community as he served on Wellford City Council for over ten years and volunteered at Wellford Community Center. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and had a giving heart as he contributed to many organizations. He was a faithful member at Seekwell Baptist Church but was also extremely blessed to have a second family with New Trinity Baptist Church. As a family man, he was loving, funny, stern but fair, and taught through integrity every day. He was the life of the party. He was constantly doting on and spoiling all of his grandchildren while showing them simple joys of hard work.

Those left to celebrate his life and cherish loving memories are a daughter, Dorothy J. Smith; a grandson, Lawrence R. Ware (Edith); three great-grandchildren, Angela M. Washington, Lawrence R. Ware II, and LaQuinta S. Lynch; five great-great-grandchildren, Jeremiah L. Washington, Ziair M. Walls, Alexander O. Washington, Zy’Korian M. Lynch and ZaNovia Anderson; sister-in-law, Mildred Clark; along with a host of loving niece and nephews.
