Mrs. Bobbie Summers Glasgow was born on August 2, 1943 in Little Mountain, South Carolina. She was the youngest child of Carroll and Wonzetta Starks Summers. She departed this life on Monday, February 26, 2024, at White Oak Manor in Newberry, SC.
Ms. Glasgow was a faithful member of Mt. Zion AME until her health declined. She graduated from Gallman High School. She enjoyed serving the Lord, traveling, singing and serving her community.
Auxiliaries and Community Involvement:
Mt. Zion AME Church Secretary, Stewardess and Usher; Annual Delegate for Mt. Zion AME for the Columbia Annual Conference; Delegate for the Mt. Zion AME District and Conference Meeting; Women’s Missionary Society President; District Women’s Missionary Society; Torch Lighter with Women’s Missionary Society; Neighborhood Crime Watch; Eastern Star Rock of Ages- Served as Corresponding Secretary, Treasurer, attended Chapter, District and Grand Chapter Meeting. She also served Newberry County Democratic Party as a Delegate to the State Democratic Convention; Newberry District Lay Organization for the AME Church; President of the Chapin Little Mountain Community Association; assisted with the HUB Community Building; Assisted with Annual Thanksgiving dinner; Organized Christmas Dinner for the senior citizens and nursing homes; Organized community Easter Egg Hunt for children and organized and assisted with Community Christmas Toy Drive and give-away.
Ms. Glasgow was preceded in death by: parents: Carroll Summer Sr. and Wonzetta Starks Summers; brother, Carroll Summers Jr.; sister, Jo Ann Boozer and great-grandson, Braxton Bridges.
Ms. Bobbie S. Glasgow leaves her, sons, Michael ( Margaret) Glasgow and Stefan (Marguerite) Glasgow, the precious love of her life her grandchildren, Chadsmon (Chelsie) Glasgow, Lakeshia (Ernest) Bridges, Cornelius (Sara) Glasgow; great-grandchildren, Karson Glasgow, Halleigh Bridges, Easton Bridges, Keyari Brown, ShaKarri Glasgow, and Kylin Glasgow. She also leaves behind a devoted sister, Kathleen Boyd, dedicated niece, Carolyn Boyd, sister-in-love, Loretta Moon and God daughter, Lynn Stack. A host of nieces and nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends. We would like to acknowledge and thank her caregivers, Nettie Koon, Barbara Coleman and Dianna Bates.
A Celebration of Life Service will be conducted on Friday, March 1, 2024 at 11:00 am at Mt. Zion AME Church, Little Mountain, South Carolina. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Public viewing will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 6:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Fred B. Pratt Memorial Chapel.
