Sim Henry Price

Funeral services for Mr. Sim Henry Price, age 69, will be conducted on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at 3:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Little River Zion Baptist Church.  Viewing will be from 3-8 on Wednesday and visitation from 7-8 at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Price passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2015.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Spencer Sam Price and the late Julia Sligh Price.  At an early age he joined Flint Hill Baptist Church and later moved his membership to True Light Ministries, and lastly he found a church home at Little River Zion Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and a member of the All Male Choir.  He was a dynamic gospel singers  and one of the  lead singers of the Abnathey Singers.  Mr. Price was a Vietnam veteran and a graduate of Gallman High School Class of 1963.

Mr. Price was predeceased by sisters, Donzell Swittenburg, Adell Price, Sara Outzts, Annette Huntley, Willie Mae Gilliam and Shirley Thacker; brothers, Spencer Charnell and Joseph Price.

Surviving are his wife, Rebecca A. Price; three daughters, Karen Scurry of Laurens, SC; Melissa Burkett (Paul) of Lugoff, SC; Elenita Young (Jerry) of Newberry, SC; son, Brian Austin of Newberry, SC; fifteen grandchildren including three reared in the home, Harold Abnathey, Jr. (Kayla); Bryant and Lee Tribble; twelve great-grandchildren; four sisters, Julia Mae Glenn of Buffalo, NY; Elnora Brice of Maryland; Mary Price of Washington, DC; Martha McCullough of Newberry, SC; two brothers, George Floyd Price and Frank Price (Thelma) all of Newberry, SC; sisters-in-law, Ida Mae Price of Clinton, SC; Fannie, Annie and Mary all of Newberry, SC; brothers-in-law, Alfred Abnathey, Jr. (Pat) of Gastonia, NC; George Wilson of Newberry, SC; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends. Two devoted friends, Robert Boyd and Joseph McMorris.
