Rosa Lee (Higgins) Kinard

Funeral services for Mrs. Rosa Lee "Toosie" Higgins Kinard, age 90, will be conducted on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion AME Church - Jalapa cemetery.  Visitation will be Sunday from 5-7 at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.

Mrs. Kinard passed away on Monday, June 19, 2017 at her residence.  Born in Kinards, SC, she was the daughter of the late James Tucker Higgins and the late Rose Price Higgins.  She was a member of Jehovah Witness, Newberry North Congregation.  Mrs. Kinard retired from Clinton Mill in Clinton, SC after many years of service.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother.  She loved and cherished her family and was respected throughout  the community.  She was a great cook.

Mrs. Kinard was predeceased by her husband, Peter Kinard, Jr.; three children, Willie L. Higgins, Shirley Ann K. Conway and Peter Kinard, III; brother, James Charles Higgins; sisters-in-law, Carrie Bell Kennedy, Magnolia Aull, Annie Rogers Taylor and Adell Connor Higgins; brothers-in-law, B. Kennedy, Elbert Aull and Walter Taylor.

Surviving are daughters, Daisy P. Taylor, Dorothy (Leroy) Miller and Rose Patricia (Howard) Williams all of Newberry, SC; sons, Larry J. (Brenda) Kinard of Newberry, SC, Charles (Tracy) Kinard of Carlisle, SC and Roosevelt (Elaine) Kinard of Newberry, SC; twin brother, Thomas "Dan" Higgins of Newberry, SC; 26 grandchildren including two grandsons reared in the home Bryson Conway and Cantrelle Kinard; seventeen great-grandchildren, three great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Joanne B. Kinard, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home of Leroy and Dorothy Miller, 654 Meadow View Lane, Newberry, SC
