Reverend Lonzo Stephen

PROSPERITY, SC F. B. PRATT & SON FUNERAL HOME, INC. Funeral services for the Reverend Lonzo Stephen, age 87, affectionately known as "Buno", will be conducted on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 2:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Lower Mt. Olive AME Church cemetery. Reverend Stephen departed this earthly life and entered into Eternal rest on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 at his home. Born in Prosperity, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Ailene Cherry. He was a faithful member of Lower Mt. Olive AME Church. Reverend Stephen was the pastor of Brown Chapel AME Church, St. Mary AME Church and Sweet Spring AME Church in Newberry. He attended Newberry Public Schools. Reverend Stephen was a World War II veteran and a member of Solid Rock Lodge #243. Reverend Stephen was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Louise Stephen and one brother, Silver Quincy Stephen. Surviving are four sons, Johnnie Lee Stephen (Shirley) of Greenville, SC; Alonzo Stephen (Lorraine) of Florence, SC; Freddie Lee Stephen of Lexington, SC; Stevie Stephen of Newberry, SC; three daughters, Azalee Ruff of Columbia, SC; Annie Pearl Bishop (Jimmy Pauling) of Charlotte, NC; Juddie Goodwin of the home; 25 grandchildren including two raised in the home, Stephine L. Stephen of Newberry, SC; Freddie L. Stephen of Lexington Park, MD; twenty great-grandchildren, two devoted nieces, Yolanda Brown and Joyce Jeffers; devoted nephew, Paul Wise, Jr. all of Newberry, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends to mourn his passing. The family will receive friends at the home, 409 Rikard School Road, Prosperity, SC.
