Michael Lietzsey

Funeral services for Mr. Michael  Lietzsey "Big Papa", age 60, will be conducted on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at 2:00 PM at New Vision Ministries.  Burial will follow in Newberry Memorial Gardens.

Mr. Lietzsey passed away on Friday, July 8, 2016 at his home.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of Barbara Ruff Lietzsey and the late L. B. Lietzsey.  He was reared by his aunt, Lillie Mae Sims and her husband the late Jack Sims.

Mr. Lietzsey attended New Vision Ministries, a graduate of Bronx High School, a former employee of West Frazier, a United States Army veteran and served 16 years in the South Carolina National Guard.

Mr. Lietzsey was predeceased by a brother, Donald Lietzsey and mother-in-law, Jessie Suber and a devoted friend Fesque Griffin.

Surviving in addition to his mother are his wife, Geraldine Griffin Lietzsey; daughter, LaRhonda (Anthony) McDowell; sons, Pedro (Alithia) Griffin; Twain (Nerissa) Griffin and Michael J. Lietzsey ; brothers, Russell (Dallas) Suber and Tony (Barbara) Cannon all of Newberry, SC; nine grandchildren, Jamarrian Griffin, Shakera Griffin, Diamond Kibler, Daywon Gary, Kasalynn Paul, Brandarius Tobe, reared in the home;  Dontavias Griffin, Jacory Griffin and Anthony McDowell, Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Rylee Griffin and Tymere Scott; eight aunts, nine uncles, God children Erica and Nala Moon,  Calvin Ruff and Rashaan Suber, devoted cousins, Sheila Suber, Claudia Ruff and Michelle Robinson, devoted friend Ben Suber, three sisters-in-law, three brothers-in-law, other relatives and friends.
