Malac (Gary) Shell

Funeral services for Mrs. Malac Gary Shell, age 65, will be conducted on Friday, July 8, 2016 at 4:00 PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel. 

Mrs. Shell passed away on Monday, July 4, 2016 at her home. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Eugene Gary and the late Pauline Byrd Gary.  She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.  Mrs. Shell was a graduate of Gallman High School class of 1968 and Piedmont Technical College.  She was the first minority nurse at Newberry County Health Department and helped  implement a grant for birth control.

Mrs. Shell was predeceased by her husband, Leon F. Shell, II; siblings, Janie G. Joiner, Pauline G. Summers, Idell G. Price, Dorothy G. Cheek, Elsie Gary, Sally Gary, Lee Gary, Willie Ree Gary, George Edward Gary and Lugenia Gary.

Surviving are her son, Leon F. Shell, III of the home; sister, Thelma Price (Frank); devoted niece, Mary Gray all of Newberry, SC; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
