Larry Cannon

Funeral services for Mr. Larry Cannon, age 65, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Gethsemane Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Cannon was called home to be with Lord on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.  Born in Newberry, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Milton and Julia Cannon.  He was cared and nurtured by his paternal grandmother the late Fannie Mae Cannon, and aunt, the late Wilhelmina Ruff.

Mr. Cannon was a faithful member of Gethsemane Baptist Church where he diligently served as a member of the Trustee Board.  He had a strong love of music and was a member of the Gethsemane Mass and Inspirational choir.  He was a faithful member of the dynamic, Sons of Gethsemane, where he enjoyed singing and traveling to churches near and far.  He was also a member of the American Legion Post #24 Newberry, South Carolina.

Mr. Cannon received his education from Newberry County Public Schools.  He attended Gallman High School.  While at Gallman he was drafted into the United States Army.  Upon his return from serving his country, he graduated from Newberry High School.  After graduation, he began working as an electrician at West Electric, and eventually transitioning to Seatrunk Electric where he worked for many years.  He enjoyed this work and eventually became the proprietor of his own business, Cannon Electric completing a variety of projects and contracts.

Mr. Cannon was predeceased by a brother James Cannon and an aunt Evelyn Goree.

Surviving are his loving and devoted wife, Linda Teresa Cannon of the home; four sons and one daughter; Trevino (Hawanya) Cannon of Columbia, SC, Adrian Garmany of Atlanta, GA, Larissa Cannon of Simpsonville, SC, Jaron Cannon of Orangeburg, SC, La'Darius Cannon of Charlotte, NC; devoted daughter-in-law Teresa Cannon; two brothers, and two sisters, Angela (Willie) Robinson of Blair, SC, Mary Ann Mayers, Ronnie (Vashtie) Cannon, Tony (Barbara) Cannon of Newberry, SC; devoted cousins reared in the home, Andrena Harp and Alice Koon; aunts and uncles, Lillie Mae Sims, Barbara Lietzsey, Claude Ruff and Thomas Ruff all of Newberry, SC; six grandchildren, Tyler Penny, Makayla (Takie) Williams, Trevor Cannon, Sariyah Battle, Chaise Cannon and Pashia Graham, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and unwavering friends.
