Funeral services for Mrs. LaFrancia " Mareia" Mathis Sinkford, age 49, will be conducted on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Presbyterian Church cemetery.
Mareia passed away on Thursday, March 23, 2017 in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Born in Newberry, South Carolina, she was the daughter of Adrenia Lake Harp and the late Jimmy Mathis. She was an active member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where she served faithfully on many ministries until her health declined. Mareia was educated in the Newberry County School System and graduated in 1986 from Mid-Carolina High School. After high school she attended Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Alabama where she received a BA degree in Music and a minor in Biology in 1990.
Mareia was predeceased by her grandmother, Wilhelmina Ruff.
Surviving are her husband, Tony Sinkford; children, Treyvais Mathis; Ariel Sinkford; mother, Andrenia Harp; step-daughter, Briyanna Sinkford; siblings Patrick T. Mathis, Valerlisatee "Lisa" Wilson, Eric Johnson, Jimmy (Jackie) Willingham, Sharon Willingham, Zackory (Melissa) Willingham, Cedric Willingham, Rosenia Shells, Batesi Bates, and Bernard White; best friend, Erica King; four aunts, Alice (Michael) Koon and Linda Cannon of Newberry, SC; Carrie (Ralph) Camack and Angela (Willie) Robinson of Blair, SC; six uncles, Johnny J. Mathis, J. W. Mathis, J. J. (Evelyn) Mathis, Ronnie (Vashtie) Cannon, Tony (Barbara) Cannon all of Newberry, SC; Thomas Mathis of Prosperity, SC; one great-uncle, Olin (Helen) Lake of Oxford Hill, MD; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
