James Edward Maffett

Funeral services for Mr. James Edward "Simp" Maffett, age 62, will be conducted on Saturday, March 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Maffett passed away on Tuesday, March 7, 2017 at Lexington Medical Center.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Carolyn Maffett Vance and the late Charles Richard Duckett.  He was a faithful member of Brown Chapel AME Church.

Surviving are his daughters, Natasha Burton Fields (Carlos) of Newberry, SC; Joy Latasha Young (Anthony) of Greensboro, NC; sisters, Frances Suber (Vada), Debra Vance, Beverly Vance (Lawrence), Susan Clark (George), Kathy Duckett, Gwendolyn Duckett; brothers, Thomas Duckett (Ada), Calvin Vance (Ivy) all of Newberry, SC; devoted companion, Drunell Williams; grandchildren, Cameron and I'yana Carter, Khadijah Caldwell; a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
