Mr. James E. Dewalt , Sr., "Klook" age 79, will be conducted on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.  Burial will follow at Boozer Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Dewalt passed away on Wednesday, September 6, 2017 at White Oak Manor - Newberry.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Colie Dewalt and Alice Lucinda K. Dewalt.  He was a member of Mt. Hebron AME Church.  Mr. Dewalt was a former employee of Newberry Mills and Cook Brothers Farm until his retirement.

Mr. Dewalt was predeceased by  a daughter, Shirley A. Dewalt; grandson, Reggie L. Dewalt, his sisters, Mary A. Bedenbaugh, Carrie L. Harmon, Sarah Alice Jeter; brother, Jessie A. Dewalt.

Surviving are his devoted wife, Ernestine W. Dewalt of Newberry, SC; eight children, Fletcher C. Walker of Prosperity, SC; Mary D. Hutcherson (Willie) of Newberry, SC; Betty Glasgow (Randy), James Dewalt, Jr. (Cynthia), Phyllis Dewalt, Sherman Dewalt, Tammie Edwards (Chuck) all of Prosperity, SC; two brothers, Willie Dewalt (Bessie)0 of Prosperity, SC; Curtis Dewalt (Susan) of Newberry, SC;  one sister Mamie Ruff of Newberry SC; 28 grandchildren including Octavia Gallman (Tyrone)  reared in the home, 39 great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren; two sister-in-laws, Cathy Chiles of Columbia, SC; Barbara Gaines of Elizbeth, NJ and a host of nieces, nephews,cousins and friends.
