Funeral services for Mr. James Lemmie Clark, will be conducted on Saturday, September 16, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Seekwell Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors.

Curt, the 7th child of 9, was born March 1, 1949 in Newberry County, SC. He was the beloved son of the late Dan Clark, Jr. and the late Minerva Hunter Clark. He passed away peacefully at the Union County Medical Center on Saturday morning, September 9, 2017.

Above all else, James was a loving father to his daughters and a proud grandfather. He selflessly devoted himself to raising his 2 girls, and he was so proud of their accomplishments in life. He spent most of his free time with his grandchildren. He took pride in attending their sporting events and also in the fact that they were excellent students. He tirelessly supported them and took every opportunity to impart his wisdom into their lives. He loved them all with his whole heart.

"Curt Clark" or "Click", as he will be fondly remembered by family and friends, graduated from Sims High School, Class of 1968. He later served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Hancock. He received numerous commendations, including the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Meritorious Unit Commendation Medal.  He was a proud Vietnam Veteran. Curt attended the University of South Carolina, Union where he received his associates degree in Business. He owned and operated Clark Brothers Logging, with his brother Edward "High Yellow" Clark for a number of years, and later retired from Wilkes Logging in Chester, SC. He continued to work part-time with the family business, Clark Enoree Sand.

Curt was a great baseball player, one of the best to ever come through the area (let him tell it). He played for Sims High School and went on to play short stop for the Happy Dogs for a number of years. Later in life, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge of the game with is grandchildren and other youth in the community.  He was an active member of the Sims High School reunion committee and he was also an active member of a local Veterans group.

Curt was a kind and generous man who was loved by all in the community. He was always laughing, always had a story to tell and always imparting wisdom whenever and wherever he went. He was very fond of all of his nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews, and many other "honorary grandchildren" that he assumed along his journey, some of whom called him "Papa." He had a tremendous impact on many lives and he will be greatly missed by many.

Curt was predeceased by brothers, L. Alonzo Clark, Daniel Woodrow Clark and Edward G. Clark.

Surviving are his daughters, Crystal Clark of Mooresville, NC and Jennifer Clark of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, Hunter Delani Stillwell, Kennidy Sloan Stillwell and Christian James Guerrero all of Mooresville, NC; sister, Willie Mae Gray; brothers, Alvin S. Clark (Lynda), George R. Clark (Leila), John R. Clark (Linda) and Ronald E.
