Gene Autry Workman

Funeral services for Mr. Gene Autry Workman, age 68, will be conducted on Friday, February 24, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Workman passed away on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Hospital.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of Josephine Workman Longshore and the late Rufus Gary.  He was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where he was a member of the Male Choir and the Grave Committee.  He was also President of the Involved Citizens of Helena and the Mayfest Committee of Helena.  He was a graduate of Gallman High School Class of 1968.  Mr. Workman was a former employee of Ted Willingham Body Shop and Perfect Touch Body Shop.

Surviving are his mother, Josephine Workman Longshore; wife, Patsy Gilliam Workman of the home; daughter, Vicky Renee Fant (Raymond) of Newberry, SC; sons, Dereco Workman (Tammy) of Newberry, SC; Chad Workman of Tampa, FL; Maurice Wyatt (Amber) of Newberry, SC and Kevin Gilliam (Anna) of Newberry, SC; sisters, Jerolean Workman Bates of Newberry, SC; Betty Ruth Gary of Norristown, PA; brothers, Jesse Gary of Blythewood, SC; Neal Workman and Oliver Workman of Jacksonville, FL; sixteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, five aunts, one uncle, eleven sisters-in-law, five brothers-in-law, five God children, cousins, nieces, nephews, friends, childhood friends Leroy and Russell Abrams, Horace and Arthur Green and classmates of Gallman High School Class of 1968.
