Furman McArthur Bookman

Funeral services for Mr. Furman McArthur Bookman will be conducted on Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Hebron AME Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Bookman passed away on Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.  Born in Prosperity, South Carolina, he was the son of the late William Furman Bookman and the late Sarah Counts Bookman.  He was a member of Mt. Hebron AME Church and Men of Faith Choir.

Mr. Bookman was predeceased by a daughter, Sherry Brown.

Surviving are his wife, Mattie Brown Bookman; daughters, Mary Pitts and Lana Bookman both of Prosperity, SC; son, James Brown (Maria) of Newberry, SC; sisters, Dorothy Cannon (Ray) of Prosperity, SC; Marie White of Atlanta, GA; Catharine Samuel and Jeanette Furtick (Larry) of Columbia, SC; brothers, William Bookman, Jr. and David Bookman of Columbia, SC; John William Swittenburg (Leslie) and Richard Bookman (Bessie) of Newberry, SC; Steve Bookman and George Bookman (Judy) of Prosperity, SC; three grandchildren including Latonya Brown reared in the home, two great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
