Funeral services for Mr. Floyd W. Sims, age 79, will be conducted on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Fairview Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Sims passed away on Friday, May 5, 2017.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Willie Sims and the late Mary Cooper Ruff.  Mr. Sims was a member of Fairview Baptist Church.  He worked in the logging business as a truck driver and played Bush League baseball where he was known by the name "Fleet".

Mr. Sims was predeceased by his wife, Floree Sims; daughter, Betty Elkins, sisters, Ada Ruff, Lillie Mae Ruff, Mary Lois Ruff Goree Sims, Dora H. Garmany, Claudia Sims, and Pauline Ruff; brothers, Robert Lee Ruff, George H. Ruff and Flemon Ruff.

Surviving are daughters, Carolyn Kinard, Flora Sims, and Kendra Wright all of Newberry, SC; Cheryl Sims of Laurens, SC; sons, William Sims of Georgia; Howard Sims, Floyd T. Sims, Sammy Sims, John Earl Herbert and Danny Wright (Lynn) all of Newberry, SC; Kevin Wright (Trina) of Irmo, SC; James Wright (Lisa) of Fayetteville, NC; Anthony Wright of Columbia, SC; step-daughters, Katherine Sims, Valerie Ruff (Eddie), Evelyn Mathis (T. J.), Annie Pearl Page (Rodney); one sister, Marie Williams of Columbia, SC; devoted friend, Hattie Wright; 32 grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, nephew reared in the home, Cleo Sims, granddaughter reared in the home, SaSa Sims; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
