Funeral services for Ms. Eula Mae Hill will be conducted on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Bethlehem Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Werts Cemetery.
Ms. Hill passed away on Friday, August 21, 2015 at her home. Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Maude and Sam Hill.
She was baptized into Christ at James Hopewell Baptist Church. She joined Bethlehem Baptist Church and became a member of New Vision Ministries later in life. Her activities in the church included Sunday School Superintendent and Teacher, a member of the Usher Board, Senior Choir and Youth Advisor. Ms. Hill was the Mother of the Church at New Vision Ministries.
Ms. Hill attended Drayton Street School and night school at Gallman High. Her employment included Royal Cleaners, Newberry Steam Laundry and Newberry College.
She was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother who enjoyed cooking, gardening, and caring for the flowers in her yard. She was affectionately called "Peabody" or "P" by her young loved ones.
Ms. Hill was predeceased by a son, Willie Hill and daughter, Patricia Ann Hill.
Surviving are two sons, Thomas James Hill of Newberry, SC; Larry Hill of Charlotte, NC; two daughters, Elsie Hill Coleman and Mary Alice Sims (Charles) of Newberry, SC; two granddaughters reared in the home, Gladys Ann Hill of Newberry, SC and Concetta C. Bonds, (Richard) of Fayetteville, NC; one niece, Maude B. Sweetenburg of Newberry, SC; fifteen grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, sixteen great-great grandchildren, a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
