Ernest Chaplin, Jr.

Funeral services for Mr. Ernest Chaplin, Jr., age 68, will be conducted on Sunday, June 12, 2016 at 2:00 PM at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in Calvary Baptist Church cemetery. 

Mr. Chaplin passed away on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital.  Born in Newberry County, he was the son of the late Ernest Chaplin, Sr. and the late Johnnie Mae Smith Chaplin. Mr. Chaplin was united in Holy Matrimony to Diane Hawkins.

Mr. Chaplin attended public schools of Newberry County.  He was a former mechanic at Senn Trucking, a  truck driver for Jim Waldrop Poultry and retired as a truck driver for Carolina Concrete.

He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Chaplin Davis.

Surviving are his faithful and devoted companion, Takeela Price; sons, Kenny (Valerie) Henderson of Newberry, SC; Daryl (Tammy) Henderson of Greenville, SC; Brian Keith Chaplin of Columbia, SC; daughters, Cheryl Hawkins of Newberry, SC; Teresa (Al) Crosby of Union, SC; step-son, De'Mario  (Nakitia) Agnew of Prosperity, SC; step-daughter, Lashonda Agnew of Newberry, SC; sisters, Evangelist Annette Hough (Joseph) of Albemarle, NC; Patsy Rogers (Johnnie) of Newberry, SC; brother, Ozie (Anna) Chaplin of Newberry, SC; twelve grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, seven step grandchildren, three step great-grandchildren; uncle Wyman Burton of Newberry, SC; special friends, L. A. Riley, James Maybin, Lattimore Cannon, Jimmy Nance and James Davenport; eight brothers-in-law, seven sisters-in-law, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and numerous friends.
