Eddie Lee Land

Memorial service for Eddie Lee Land age 59, will be conducted Thursday, August 31, 2017 at 3:00PM at Pratt Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Land was born on November 2, 1957 in Brooklyn, NY. Eddie was the last of eight children born to the late Andrew Land Sr. and Janie Mae Brooks Land. He passed away on Monday, August 21, 2017 at Newberry County Memorial Hospital in Newberry, SC.

As an adult Eddie worked many jobs. In his early years he worked with the Parks and Recreations department, Brooklyn, NY. He also held positions as a sales associate in a department store, a manager at the South Carolina Troopers Association call center, and a shorthand cook. Eddie had a few hobbies that he enjoyed immensely, of those hobbies was cooking, baking and sewing. He was also a basketball coach in the Red Hook community of Brooklyn, NY. During his time as a coach he won many championship games. He was a mentor.

Eddie was a loving father and grandfather. He was survived by his only daughter Nichelle Lynette Land, Marilyn Crawford Land, granddaughter Shawnelle Jennifer Mayers. Two brothers Andrew Land Jr, and John Land. Five sisters Andrena Vazquez, Janie Mae Land, Mary Frances Land-Smith, Patricia Land and Vanessa Land-Mason. A host of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and very close friends Mareshia Caldwell, Martha Sims, Jaquan Wright, Timeka Sims, Lillie Brooks, Michelle Brooks and Mattie Mae Lum they hold a dear place in his heart as they hold him in theirs.
