Bessie (Miller) Penn

Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie M. Penn, age 85, will be conducted on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at 2:00 PM at Welch Zion Baptist Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Penn passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at J. F. Hawkins Nursing Home.  Born in Newberry County, she was the daughter of the late Forrest Miller and the late Hattie Vance Miller.

She was a member of Welch Zion Baptist Church and Women's Home Aid Society #7.

Mrs. Penn was the last surviving member of her immediate family.  She was predeceased by her husband, Willie Penn; sisters, Laura M. Harp, Lucille Miller and Nora Mae Miller; brothers, Anderson Miller, Elijah Miller, Pierce Miller and Forrest Miller.

Surviving are her son, Johnny Miller (Cynthia) of Newberry, SC; grandsons, Antonio, James Kelly and Tally Cummings; devoted nieces, Lillie Mae Sheppard, Mary Houston and Gloria Lindsey; devoted nephew, Leroy Miller,  a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
