Alfred Heller

Funeral services for Mr. Alfred Heller, age 85, will be conducted on Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 2:00 PM at St. James AME Church.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Heller passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016 at his home.  Born in Pomaria, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Sim Heller, Sr. and the late Eunice Livingston Heller.  He was a dedicated member of St. James AME Church where he was the "Father of the Church", Class Leader, Trustee, Steward and Sexton.  Mr. Heller attended Hope Rosenward School.  He was a United States Army veteran in the Korean War.  Mr. Heller was employed with Owen Illinois where he retired after over 35 years of service and also worked with Newberry County Waste Management.

Mr. Heller was predeceased by his first wife, Elaine Graham Heller; second wife, Hattie Bell Heller; daughter, Nora Jean Heller; son, James Alfred Heller; sisters, Margaret Percell and Carrie Nell Heller; mother-in-law, Dora Garmany.

Surviving are sons, George (Patricia) Cromer of North Pole, Alaska; Homer Lee Cromer, Randy (Lynn Renee) Heller, Eddie Dean (Angela) Heller all of Pomaria, SC; Samuel (Angela) Heller of Columbia, SC; daughter, Patricia Whitney of Pomaria, SC; step-children, Sheila (James) Boyd of Little Mountain, SC and George H. Chapman; brothers, Sim (Elease) Heller, Jr. of W. Columbia, SC; Carroll (Boon Choo) Heller of Melbourne, FL; James "Ken" Heller of Pomaria, SC; sisters, Vivian Mitchell of Columbia, SC; Bonita H. Lee of Pomaria, SC; Laura Ann Heller of Columbia, SC; Deborah (Willie) Robinson of Pomaria, SC; two grandchildren reared in the home; Michael Heller of Columbia, SC and Courtney L. Heller of Richmond, VA; nineteen grandchildren, including a dedicated granddaughter, DeAlva Heller, ten step-grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, three aunts and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
